LET’S BE HONEST ABOUT JOKIC AS A PASSER

Years ago, I was playing a full court game of basketball.

Jason Paisola threw me a bounce pass that was SO good; I just stopped and blew my chance for the layup. I bent over and laughed to the point I had tears in my eyes.

More than a 30-footer from Steph, or MJ dunking on giant men, I prefer a great pass.

It’s the most artistic part of the sport.

Nikola Jokic is now an NBA legend.

His standout skill is his ability to dish the ball.

He’s even better than the word on the street.

I keep hearing him referred to as “likely the best passing big man of all time.”

Nikola is being labeled next to Wilt, Jabbar, Walton, and Arvydas Sabonis.

His level can’t come with categories or limitations.

Let’s compare him to some of my favorites.

Mark Jackson.

Chris Webber.

Rajon Rondo.

Ricky Rubio.

Rod Strickland.

Andre Miller.

We have to put Nikola with the best passers who ever lived.

Just to name a few…..

Cousy and Robertson.

A showtime pioneer like Pete Maravich.

The modern version, Jason Williams.

The precise, creative/coach on the floor distributors like……

John Stockton

LeBron James

Chris Paul

Jason Kidd

Steve Nash

Larry Bird was a crafty genius.

Isiah Thomas was born to dazzle in the All-Star game.

Am I saying Jokic is the same level of passer Magic Johnson was?

Magic might be in the best seat, but they’re sitting at the same table.
